Semolina Vada




Semolina vada is delicious, fluffy, easy to cook and made of with semolina (rava) and other spices. Usually medu vada is a South Indian savoury fried snack which is made of with black gram. It is a popular snack which you can serve it as breakfast or as snack at evening tea. However this semolina vada looks and tastes like medu vada, though you can cook it instantly. It will hardly take 30 minutes. This semolina vada is so yummy 😋 to taste. Its outside layer is golden and crispy yet it is soft from inside. For more taste you can add chopped onions or any other veggies in it. It may be served with Sambhar, tomato sauce, coconut chutney, peanut chutney or any other chutney of your choice.

Here is its ingredients and method:

Ingredients:-

Semolina (Rava) - 2 cup
Curd - 1 cup
Asafoetida - 1 pinch
Ginger paste - 1 teaspoon
Green chilli paste - 1 teaspoon
Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
Curry leaves - 7-8
Coriander leaves - 1 tablespoon (finely chopped)
Baking soda - 1 teaspoon
Baking Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Oil - 1 tablespoon
Salt to taste

Oil for frying

Method:-
1. Take a bowl and put rava, curd, asafoetida, ginger paste, green chilli paste, cumin seeds,curry leaves, coriander leaves, baking powder, 1 tablespoon of oil and salt to taste into it and mix it well. Add water if required, to make a thick consistency batter. Keep it aside for 10 minutes.

2. Then mix a batter again and add baking soda in it. Mix it well.

3. Heat oil in a pan for frying the vada. Take a bowl and apply some water on its back. Then put 1-2 tablespoons of thick semolina batter on the back of that bowl or in one of your hand, make a hole in centre with your finger and give a shape to vada. Then slightly flip it into your other hand.

4. Then put this into oil and cook on medium flame until brown. Make all the vadas in this way. Semolina vada is ready. Serve it hot with tomato sauce, coconut chutney or Sambhar.
