Instant Rava Upma Mix




Upma is a savoury dish of India, though, most commonly belongs to South India and Maharashtra, it is one of the popular breakfast recipe in many parts of India. It is made of with Semolina (sooji) or coarse rice flour. It is very healthy dish mainly served with tomato sauce. You can add any vegetables in it of your choice like onion, green peas, carrots, etc. It is liked by everyone, be it a kid, young or old one. It is a good combination of health  and taste.

We know, in the market, many brands sell the mix of instant upma mix. But why we buy the same, when we can prepare that mix at home. Today I am sharing the recipe of instant rava upma mix. You can prepare it, keep it into an airtight container and use it as per your requirement. Just heat 1 tablespoon of oil, add veggies of your choice, sauté it and finally add your home made instant rava upma mix and water and cook. That's it.

Here is the ingredients and recipe of it:-

Ingredients:-
Semolina (Rava) - 500 gms
Peanuts - 1/2 cup
Asafoetida - 1/2 teaspoon
Dry curry leaves - 2 teaspoon
Mustard seeds - 1 & 1/2 teaspoon
Bengal Gram Splits (chana dal) - 3 tablespoon
Chilli flakes - 1 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Oil - 3 tablespoon

Method:-
1. Take a non stick pan and heat oil into it. Then add mustard seeds into it.

2. When it starts popping up then add bengal gram split and peanuts  and roast it for 2 minutes.

3. Then add asafoetida and crushed dry curry leaves and mix it.

4. Then add semolina in it and roast it on low to medium heat for 3-4 minutes or until the rawness of rava gone.

5. Then season it with chilli flakes and salt to taste and mix it well. Instant Rava Upma Mix is ready now.

You can preserve it in airtight container for 4-5 weeks.
You know what the  great thing about this mix.. that you can also use this mix for making rava idlis. So by making this rava mix you can kill two birds with one stone 😆.
