Green Peas Nimona



Green Peas Nimona is one of popular savoury dish of Uttar Pradesh which is made of with green peas and potatoes. It is different from regular Aloo matar (green peas - potatoes) sabzi as it is made with coarsely grinded green peas and fried crisp potato dices. You can serve it in lunch or at dinner too.

Though there is no use of onion and garlic in this recipe yet its so delicious 😋 yummy.

Here is its full recipe:-

Ingredients:-
Green peas - 2 cups
Potatoes - 2 (cut in small dices)
Asafoetida - 1/2 teaspoon
Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
Cumin - 1 teaspoon
Ginger and green chilli paste - 1 tablespoon
Tomato puree - 1/2 cup
Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
Bay leaves - 2
Whole black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Oil

Method:-
1. Coarsely grind the green peas with the help of mixer grinder.

2. Take a pan and heat oil into it. Then fry the potato dices until nice golden and crisp.

3. On the other hand take a non stick pan and heat 1-2 tablespoons of oil into it. Then add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, whole black pepper, bay leaves into it.

4. When it starts popping up, then add  asafoetida and ginger and green chilli paste into it and cook for 2 minutes.

5. Then add tomato puree into it and cook it for another 2 minutes. Then season it with red chilli powder, garam masala, coriander powder and salt to taste and mix it well. Cook it until masala cooked.

6. Now add green peas paste and cup of water into it. Cook for 4-5 minutes. Then add fried potatoes into it and mix it well. Cook for another 1-2 minutes and then off the flame. Green Peas Nimona is ready now.

7. Put it into the serving bowl and garnish it with tomato slice and bay leaf and serve it hot.
