Tamarind Carrot Peas




This mildly sweet and sour tamarind carrot peas sabzi is so delicious and tempting and also different from our regular carrot sabzi. Actually you can try it out when you get bored from the regular carrot peas sabzi. You can have it either in your breakfast or in lunch or dinner with pooris or parathas or chapatis.


Here is its full recipe:-
Ingredients:-
Carrots - 500 gm
Peas - 250 gm
Onion - 1 big (chopped)
Tamarind Paste - 2 tablespoon
Tomatoes - 2
Pickled Green chillies - 3
Coriander stems - 7-8
Garam Masala - 1/2 teaspoon
Red chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Jaggery - 1 tablespoon
Oil - 2 tablespoons


Method:-
1. Put oil in kadai and heat it. Then add onions and cook it until brown. Then add carrots and peas into it. Season it with turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala and salt to taste into it, mix it well and close the lid of the kadai and let it cook for 5-6 minutes.

2. By the time, make puree of chopped tomatoes, coriander stems and pickled green chillies. Also put 2 teaspoons of water into the tamarind paste and mix it well and make a smooth paste of it.

3. Now add tomato puree into the kadai and mix it well. Cook it for another 2 minutes. Keep an eye on the kadai so that veggies does not stick to it. Once the veggies tenders then add tamarind paste & grated jaggery into it and mix it well. Cook it for 1-2 minutes. Now tamarind carrot peas is ready to serve.

4. Serve it in the bowl and garnish it with onion rings and green chilli pickle. You can serve this sweet and sour vegetable with poori, parathas or chapatis.
