Missi Roti


Missi roti is a flat bread which is made by the mixture of whole wheat flour, gram flour and other spices. It is very tasty and nutritious as well. You can have it in your lunch or dinner. Usually Authentic missi roti cooks in the tandoor, however, if you don't have tandoor, you can cook tandoori missi roti in cooker on your regular cooktop. You can also cook the missi roti in oven or electric tandoor too. 
It is very popular roti of north India. It goes well with any type of rayta, daal makhani, daal fry, shahi paneer or any kind of curry dish. Here is the full recipe of missi roti:-
Ingredients:-
Wheat Flour - 3/4 cup
Gram flour (besan) - 1/2 cup
Onion - 1 (finely chopped)
Garlic - 2 Cloves (crushed)
Dry Fenugreek Leaves - 1 tbsp
Roasted Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
Roasted Coriander Seeds - 1 tsp
Chaat Masala - 1 tsp
Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
Chilli Flakes - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Ghee/ butter

Method:-
1. Take a bowl and put wheat flour and besan in it. Now add roasted cumin seeds, coriander seeds, crushed garlic, chopped onions, chaat masala, garam masala, dry fenugreek leaves, chilli flakes, turmeric and salt to taste in it and mix it well with your hands. Add adequate water (2-3 tbsp approx.) in it and knead a soft dough and cover it with muslin cloth and keep it to rest for 15-20 minutes.
2. Now Before making roti, knead the dough once again and divide it into 5-6 parts. Take one part of it and roll it like a ball, then sprinkle some dry flour and roll the roti with the help of rolling pin. Make all the rotis in the same way.
3. Then you cook the missi roti in tandoor. You can cook it in the cooktop or in oven too. After this your missi roti is ready to serve. Put 1 tsp of ghee/ butter over it and apply it on the whole roti.
4. Keep it in the plate and serve it hot. You can serve it with the cube of butter, curd, rayta, daal fry or any sabzi of your choice.
