Mohan thal is an Indian festival dessert. It is mainly served to God as Prasad. Making this sweets is little tricky but the results are so delicious 😋 and mouth watering. The most tricky part of this recipe is its granular texture. For making this always use the thick gram flour. Here is its full recipe:-
Ingredients:-
Gram flour (thick)- 250 gm
Ghee - 280 gm
Milk- 5-6 teaspoons
Sugar - 200 gm
Saffron - 7-8 strands
Cardamom powder - 1 teaspoon
Desiccated coconut - 4 teaspoon
Almonds crushed - 4 tablespoons
Cashew nuts crushed - 4 tablespoons
Raisins - 2 tablespoons
Melon seeds - 2 tablespoons
Method:-
1. Take a gram flour in a plate or flat bowl. Add half of ghee in it and mix it well. Now sprinkle milk over it and mix it with your fingers until it turns into grainy texture. For making Mohan thal this step is very important. The mixture should be grainy otherwise it tastes like a normal besan barfi. Don't use your palm otherwise you may break the grains.
2. Now take rest of the ghee in a non stick pan and heat it. When it melts, put the gram flour grainy mixture into it and roast it until light brown on low to medium heat.
3. For sugar syrup take a pan and heat water. Then add sugar, saffron and cardamom powder and stir it until the sugar dissolved. Add lemon juice in it for clearing the impurities of sugar. Cook it for 3-4 minutes and make 2 strings sugar syrup.
4. Now add Desiccated coconut, crushed Almonds and Cashew nuts into the roasted grainy besan. Then add sugar syrup in it and keep stirring until it absorbs well in the mixture. Now turned it into the greased plate. Garnish it with raisins, melon seeds and desiccated coconut. Let it cool for 1 hour and cut it into the square pieces. (you can cut Mohan thal in any shape or also put this mixture into muffin moulds and let it cool, then de-mould it)
5. Mohan thal is ready to serve now.
