Ingredients:-
Split moong dal - 1 cup (soaked)
Curd - 4-5 tablespoons
Semolina - 2-3 tablespoons
Curry leaves - 6-7
Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
Baking soda - 1/4 teaspoon
Chana dal - 1 teaspoon
Urad dal - 1 teaspoon
Grounded masala - 1 teaspoon
Asafoetida- 1/2 teaspoon
Onions - 1 (finely chopped)
Carrot - 1 (grated)
Pepper powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Oil - 1 tablespoon
Prep time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 12-15 minutes
Method:-
1. Take soaked moong dal in a mixer and grinds it to make a smooth paste and put this into a bowl and add rava in it. Add curd, asafoetida, pepper powder, salt to taste, water as required in it and mix it well. Add chopped onions, and carrots in it.
2. Heat oil in a tadka pan and add mustard seeds and curry leaves in it. When it starts splutter put chana dal, urad dal and grounded masala in it and put half of this into the mixture of dal and rava and mix it well and keep it aside for 20 minutes.
3. Then just before steaming add baking soda in it and mix it well.
4. Boil water in a steamer. Now take silicon muffin moulds and fill 3/4 of it by dal idli mix, sprinkle the remaining tadka of curry leaves, mustard seeds and masala over it and steam it for 10-12 minutes.
5. Before unmould, let it cool for 5 minutes. Dal ki idli is ready.
6. Serve it hot along with coconut chutney. Will share the recipe of coconut chutney in my next blog.
