Semolina Masala Appe

Appe/ Paniyaram is a popular south Indian snack dish. It is made of with rice flour, urad dal or semolina. I made it with semolina and put little rice flour for crispiness. I also add seasonal vegetables into it for more taste and in this way it also becomes more healthier. You can have this healthy dish in your breakfast or as an evening snack along with tea/ coffee. You can also serve this tasty and healthy dish in your kid's tiffin box along with tomato ketchup. They surely likes it. For making this we need the Appe/ paniyaram pan which is a non-stick pan having  7, 12 or more cups for making this delicious snack item. As it is non-stick so you grease it once and after that you can avoid oil in it.

Here is its ingredients and method:

Ingredients:
Instant Rava Upma Mix* - 1 cup
Rice Flour - 2 tbsp
Curd - 1/2 cup
Finely chopped Cauliflower - 2 tbsp
Finely chopped Carrots - 2 tbsp
Finely chopped Onions - 2 tbsp
Crushed Peas - 2 tbsp
Green Chilli & Ginger Paste - 1 tbsp
Baking Soda - 1 tsp
Chilli Flakes - 1/2 tsp
Chopped Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp
Oil - 1 tbsp.

Oil for greasing the appe pan

Method:-
1. Take a bowl and put all the ingredients except baking soda and add water if required and make a smooth batter like idli. Keep it aside for 10-15 minutes to rest. Then mix it again and put baking soda into it and mix it well.

2. Heat the appe pan and grease each cups of it with the oil. Then put 1 spoon full of batter into each cavity, cover it with lid and cook on low flame for 5 minutes.

3. After that flip it if cooked from one side and let it cook from the other side till it crisps and golden. Then remove all the cooked appes from the pan and make other batches in the same way.

4. Semolina Masala Appe is ready to serve. Serve it hot with tomato ketchup, coconut chutney or mint coriander chutney.
