Healthy Broken Wheat Porridge


Broken Wheat Porridge is very healthy and delicious too. It is made of with broken wheat along  with red and yellow lentil (dhuli moong masoor dal), green peas, cauliflower, carrots etc. It is very simple and easy to make.  It is a one pot meal and cooked within 20-25 minutes. You can have it in breakfast, lunch or dinner. Broken wheat is so healthy to eat that every one should incorporate it in their diet. It is a super food which is easy to digest and has very low calories. It has a very high nutritional value. Everyone who want to lose their weight should consume this as it is perfect diet for such people. So make a habit to eat this super food and this porridge also includes other nutritional ingredients such as lentils and veggies. You can also add France beans, spinach, potato, etc. in this porridge.


Here is the list of ingredients and it method:


Ingredients:
Broken Wheat (Daliya) - 2 cups
Yellow Lentil - 1/2 cup
Red Lentil - 1/2 cup
Green Peas - 1/2 cup
Chopped Cauliflower - 1/2 cup
Chopped Carrot - 1
Crushed Garlic - 3-4 cloves
Chopped Onions - 1 (medium)
Chopped Tomatoes - 1 (medium)
Crushed Dried Curry leaves - 1 tbsp.
Chopped Green Chillies - 1 tbsp.
Chopped Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp.
Schezwan Sauce - 2 tbsp. (optional)
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Garam Masala - 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil - 1 tbsp.


Method:
1. Wash Broken Wheat and both the lentils well and then soak it in water.

2. Take a Pressure Cooker and put oil into it. When it becomes hot then add cumin seeds, dried curry leaves and mustard seeds into it and let it splutter. Then add chopped onions into it and cook it until brown.

3. Then add crushed garlic, chopped green chillies into it and mix it well. Then add Chopped tomatoes into it and cook it for 1 minute. Then season it with turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala and salt to taste. Give a nice mix. Then add schezwan sauce into it which gives a nice flavour in porridge. (It is optional)

4. Then add chopped cauliflower, carrots, green peas, both the soaked lentils and broken wheat into it and mix it well. Then add 4 cups (approx.) of water into it and cover it with lid and pressure cook it for 2 whistles. Then switch off the flame.

5. Open the pressure cooker and put chopped coriander leaves into it and mix it well. Tasty and healthy broken wheat porridge is ready to serve now. Garnish it with tomato slice and green chilli and serve it hot with curd or pickle of your choice.
