Samak Bottle Gourd Pulav - Navratri Special






Samak bottle gourd pulav is the perfect savoury dish for Navratri's fasts - healthy and tasty too. Generally we use potatoes in the fasting food. We all know the fact that Bottle  gourd is full of water & minerals and very good for our health. So replacement of potatoes with the bottle gourd is a good option not only for change in taste but specially for people who can't consume potatoes for all days of Navratri. It tastes great in samak pulav. My family likes it so much and I am sure you too will like it.


Here is its ingredients and method:-
Ingredients:-
Samak rice - 1 cup
Chopped Bottle gourd - 1/2 cup
Grated Ginger - 1 tsp
Chopped Cauliflower - 2-3 tbsp
Chopped coriander leaves - 1 tbsp
Chopped tomato - 1
Rock Salt to taste
Red Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Oil - 1 tbsp


Method:-
1. Wash the samak rice and soak it in water.


2. Put pressure cooker on gas flame and heat oil into it. When it becomes hot then add cumin seeds into it. When it starts popping up then add grated ginger and chopped tomatoes into it and cook it.


3. Then season it with rock salt and chilli powder. Mix it well and add chopped bottle gourd into it, mix it and pressure cook it for 1 whistle.


4. Then open the lid and add soaked samak rice, chopped cauliflower and 2 cups of water into it and pressure cook upto 2 whistles. Open the lid after 2 minutes. Put chopped coriander leaves and mix it well. Samak bottle gourd pulav is ready. Put it in serving plate and serve it hot with cucumber tomato salad and cucumber rayta.
